Anyone betting on a top in AI got their ass kicked yesterday. Maybe massive AI spending with an unknown future hurts companies like Microsoft, but it’s not a bad thing for the chip makers. The question now is whether yesterday was an oversold bounce, or whether the market made a durable low after hours on Tuesday.

META is up big on earnings from last night, tonight we have AAPL and AMZN. Jobs number on Friday. So still a lot of data to come. META also announced massive AI spending (good news for the chips) but avoided Microsoft’s fate. Meta’s Ad Strength Gives Its AI Spending Some Cover-WSJ

FOMC was supposed to be the main event yesterday, but Powell did the expected, no change this meeting and set the stage for a cut in September.

Whatever happened to polar bears? They used to be all climate campaigners could talk about, but now they’re essentially absent from headlines. Over the past 20 years, climate activists have elevated various stories of climate catastrophe, then quietly dropped them without apology when the opposing evidence becomes overwhelming. The only constant is the scare tactics.
